The hallway was packed with students trying to catch a glimpse of their results for the semester. Mike felt goose bumps as he approached the notice board. His first year results had been very poor and the school had told him he would be ejected if his second year performance wasn’t excellent. As he looked at the result sheet, his worst fears were confirmed: his second year, first semester results were bad. John his best friend put his arms around his shoulders and whispered to him, “All hope is not lost. You still have one semester and you should see this coming semester as a matter of life and death.”

Have you ever been in a position where you have been told that the matter at hand is a matter of life and death? Maybe the situation is that someone you love is ill or something is about to go wrong with something you value. Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV) says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” Whenever something is a matter of life and death, it is a matter the tongue should handle. The tongue has the power over life and death. Start speaking positive words over that situation.  I like the original way the Hebrew translation renders Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the hand of the tongue”. That’s right – your tongue has a hand! Look out for scriptures that address that particular situation you intend to deal with and use the power of words to cause the change you desire and attract the good things you need.
